The truth is, with so many people opting to home school their children, there is a great network accessible for you to interact with other home school families. Feel that you aren’t smart enough to teach math or science? There are home school mom and dads who will trade off teaching certain subjects if you teach your children and theirs’ the subjects you are best at. There are many resources available to parents who desire to home school; never feel that you are alone in this endeavor. You just have to put in the time and the spunk to take on the tremendous responsibilities of delivering your child from the present and into the future. But what is more vital in your life than helping your child become the best they can be?. Many parents in consider home schooling for their children over normal school classes. Historically, most parents home schooled their children due to religious beliefs. Now, the reasons are more that religion. And, they are contrary to opinions where professionals once believe that you should not home school your children. Satellite broadband internet is making it possible for home schooling to break through the barriers of the once negative myths. As a matter of fact, many schools in urban cities are finding it cheaper to close schools and turn them into free public home school programs.
Academic reasons are another area that home schooling has become popular in. Those living in rural areas who previously home schooled their children were required at one point to create lesson plans that followed state guidelines and standards. Thanks to fast satellite broadband internet, parents are finding interactive home–school programs that exceed state requirements. Some home–school programs feature live lessons for children where they can actually see and hear the teacher present lessons. The teacher gives visual step by step assistance and records it, allowing the child to gain repetitious learning. Previously, physical schools used repetition to teach all the time. Now they use so many methods, that from year to year the children have to relearn or unlearn a previous method. Also, once they teach a lesson, they move on to the next, not allowing the child to properly retain the taught information. The recorder live lesson method lets the children go back as many times as they need to until they get it.
Search for accredited school, Don’t simply get an online diploma from an unrecognized school. You must make sure that you enroll in the accredited school which is recognized internationally. This is important because many reputable universities will not accept diplomas from online schools that only hold national accreditation. What you need to do is to submit a copy of your transcript to your school of choice in order to show what credits you have already earned. If you don’t have any transcript, you should get yourself ready to sit for a placement test provided by the school in order to determine your education level. Get yourself ready, In order to complete the online program smoothly, you need to make sure that you have a computer at home with high-speed internet access which you can use on daily basis to learn new topics and complete all course works. Besides getting the hardware and software ready, you are reminded to get yourself physically and mentally ready too. Make sure you have a healthy body and fresh mind during your study. It is important for you to set your study schedule carefully and stick to it. Besides, you are reminded to have strong determination and self-discipline so that you can complete your distance learning within the exact time frame.
The government and state send out standardized tests that home schooled children are still required to take. Many “traditional” schools set days aside for these tests each year. Before administering the tests at home, check with your local school board to make sure that your child isn’t required sit in a school classroom first. In some areas, there are days set aside for local home schooled children to take the tests together. Use the information available through your local school board to plan your approach to yearly standardized tests.
Another area that is important to teach during these times is the idea of service. The natural bent of a child is to think only of themselves and to take care of their wants above all else. A cure for this ailment is to help the child see others and the needs they have and then to serve those people in some way. This can be as simple as raking leaves and doing yard work for family or neighbors, baking cookies and sharing them with others. Calling on elderly folks in the church, service activities can be as creative as the kids themselves. Check out my article about home preschoolers and socialization for other suggestions. The idea is to just get them to stop thinking about themselves for a while and letting them experience how good it makes them feel to give service to others. Home schooling middle grade students is a fun and challenging time for both you and your child. It is a time to stretch them mentally with their classes making sure all the fundamentals are covered. Then help them understand all the changes that are taking place in their own bodies and how they are part of a society and how they can help serve others in that society.
There are plenty of reasons why parents are deciding to home school besides the once common religious reasons. One is perhaps social reasoning. Professionals who once criticized parents for home schooling their children are beginning to change their views, finally realizing what people in rural areas knew for years. That not all social interaction is positive. The physical schools are becoming increasingly violent, along with increased drug usage, and gang activity. Home schooling with satellite broadband internet allows schools to turn into interactive virtual classrooms where children are still able to interact with teachers, students, and parents. The home–school setting draws the child’s attention from negative social behaviors like alcohol, drugs, and risky sexual behavior. Chances of the child encountering violence in the home–school setting are nonexistent.
