Academic reasons are another area that home schooling has become popular in. Those living in rural areas who previously home schooled their children were required at one point to create lesson plans that followed state guidelines and standards. Thanks to fast satellite broadband internet, parents are finding interactive home–school programs that exceed state requirements. Some home–school programs feature live lessons for children where they can actually see and hear the teacher present lessons. The teacher gives visual step by step assistance and records it, allowing the child to gain repetitious learning. Previously, physical schools used repetition to teach all the time. Now they use so many methods, that from year to year the children have to relearn or unlearn a previous method. Also, once they teach a lesson, they move on to the next, not allowing the child to properly retain the taught information. The recorder live lesson method lets the children go back as many times as they need to until they get it.
As your child’s home school teacher, you can also determine the morale and religious teachings your child is exposed to. And in regards to religious teaching, you are also able to control if or how much religious teachings are brought into your child’s realm. Your kids will have a precise view of what your family’s values entail and there will be no uncertainty as to what your family truly believes. What you teach your child is the way your family lives. There are more and more parents becoming dissatisfied with the public school system as it is now. They worry that recent congressional edicts are either pushing their children too hard or not pushing them nearly as much as they should be. Other parents are concerned with the government taking too much control on what can and can not be said, let alone taught to their children. Some parents fear that their children are not put in appropriate classes according to their abilities, but are massed -passed because of their age. And then there are other parents who had bad experiences in their past with the school system and are determined to make a better educational setting for their children.
The government and state send out standardized tests that home schooled children are still required to take. Many “traditional” schools set days aside for these tests each year. Before administering the tests at home, check with your local school board to make sure that your child isn’t required sit in a school classroom first. In some areas, there are days set aside for local home schooled children to take the tests together. Use the information available through your local school board to plan your approach to yearly standardized tests.
Another area that is important to teach during these times is the idea of service. The natural bent of a child is to think only of themselves and to take care of their wants above all else. A cure for this ailment is to help the child see others and the needs they have and then to serve those people in some way. This can be as simple as raking leaves and doing yard work for family or neighbors, baking cookies and sharing them with others. Calling on elderly folks in the church, service activities can be as creative as the kids themselves. Check out my article about home preschoolers and socialization for other suggestions. The idea is to just get them to stop thinking about themselves for a while and letting them experience how good it makes them feel to give service to others. Home schooling middle grade students is a fun and challenging time for both you and your child. It is a time to stretch them mentally with their classes making sure all the fundamentals are covered. Then help them understand all the changes that are taking place in their own bodies and how they are part of a society and how they can help serve others in that society.
Search for accredited school, Don’t simply get an online diploma from an unrecognized school. You must make sure that you enroll in the accredited school which is recognized internationally. This is important because many reputable universities will not accept diplomas from online schools that only hold national accreditation. What you need to do is to submit a copy of your transcript to your school of choice in order to show what credits you have already earned. If you don’t have any transcript, you should get yourself ready to sit for a placement test provided by the school in order to determine your education level. Get yourself ready, In order to complete the online program smoothly, you need to make sure that you have a computer at home with high-speed internet access which you can use on daily basis to learn new topics and complete all course works. Besides getting the hardware and software ready, you are reminded to get yourself physically and mentally ready too. Make sure you have a healthy body and fresh mind during your study. They can learn how to create animations, along with several other skills specifically designed for their level. With this stage of development, children learn and absorb information quickly. The truth is this is the time as soon as your child would rather explore the world around her.
